Campus Walking Tour – Sculpture and Architecture
Sep 22, 2023
1:00PM to 2:00PM

Nicole Knibb, Senior Education Officer at the McMaster Museum of Art will lead a walking tour of McMaster’s outdoor sculptures and original campus architecture. The tour provides historic and present-day information about the history and evolution of McMaster’s campus alongside the rich background of the various sculptures on display around campus. Meet at the Museum of Art to begin the tour.
In case of inclement weather, Nicole will lead an exclusive tour of the Museum’s exhibition, Chasm, an exploration of the collection through critical curatorial frameworks. This exhibition offers diverse and transcultural perspectives and interpretations of the museum’s holdings, including recent acquisitions. Chasm takes the unique vantage point of critiquing the power dynamics of colonialism from within the museum, informed by the transcultural positions of resistance that seek Indigenous sovereignty and Black liberation.
This tour will be delivered in person, starting at the McMaster Museum of Art as part of Postdoctoral Appreciation Week. If you have any questions, please contact Catherine Maybrey, coordinator of Postdoctoral Affairs and Research Training, at postdoc@mcmaster.ca.
