Responding supportively when someone discloses an experience of sexual violence to us can greatly impact a survivor’s well-being. This 1.5-hour training session will familiarize participants

• with the Recognize, Respond, Refer model to giving support,
• cover key points of McMaster’s Sexual Violence Policy, and
• introduce campus and community resources available to the McMaster community.

This workshop is facilitated by Wil Prakash Fujarczuk (He/Him), coordinator, sexual violence prevention education, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• understand the gendered, systemic, and intersectional realities of sexual violence,
• distinguish between sexual violence myths and realities
• support those disclosing sexual violence through the Recognize, Respond, Refer model
• distinguish between disclosing and reporting
• identify relevant resources available on campus and in the community
