English

English studies involves the historical and analytical study of literatures and cultures produced in English throughout the world, as well as the study of critical and cultural theory. Combining long-standing commitments to traditional areas of English literary study, ranging from Medieval and Early Modern to a broad range of contemporary literatures and cultures, with expertise in interdisciplinary areas such as narratives of health, and literature/culture and the environment. Critical race studies, theories of gender and sexuality, and theories and literatures of decolonization and resistance also form core elements of these programs.
