Calling all graduate student artists! Submissions open for Gallery of Graduate Arts
The Gallery of Graduate Arts is now accepting submissions for the virtual edition of the gallery.
The Gallery of Graduate Arts is a student-led initiative, which showcases art produced by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are pursuing studies here at McMaster. Grad students are invited to submit recent pieces to be featured in the virtual edition of the Gallery of Graduate Arts. Sketched, painted, crafted, or written, all forms of artwork are welcome.
Due to the virtual nature of the ongoing exhibit, all artwork will be displayed as as images regardless of medium.
The call for submissions is open now. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis, but students are encouraged to submit their art as soon as they are able.
Why the Gallery of Graduate Arts
The aim of the Gallery of Graduate Arts is to highlight complementary creative practices, by motivating students to express their artistic side while pursuing their graduate or postdoctoral studies. Many find that practicing their art — whether it be drawing, painting, writing poetry, sculpting, creating jewelry, or whichever medium — allows time for themselves, a break to temporarily let go of never-ending to-do lists, and enjoy the flow of their creative practice.
This year the Gallery is partnered with the McMaster Graduate Student Wellness Team to exhibit artwork through their biweekly newsletter. With your permission, art will also be displayed on the Gallery of Graduate Arts website and instagram feed.
Submit your artwork using this online form. The frequency of the newsletter constrains how many pieces we can directly feature; however, all submitted works will be featured on the Gallery website and include the link with every feature. The goal is to feature each artist at least once throughout 2021. If you submit multiple works at once, please indicate which one you would like featured, if you have a preference.
If you have any questions, please email mac.gallgradarts@gmail.com.
